Doubt

Have you doubted? Yourself? Others? God? Shanley brilliantly explores all these variations of doubt in this parable. In the play, Father Flynn describes Parables: “You make little stories to illustrate. In the tradition of the parable.” Whenever people ask me why I am a theatre artist, I tell them that I tell stories on stage because people remember stories, people talk about stories, people are changed by stories. We want to explore the questions of doubting faithfully, doubting courageously, and doubting compassionately.
